Characters as Bankers?
Characters as Bankers?
What does this mean? How do you use a character as a banker? Is it just holding gold for your other characters?

See Erilar's comments here.
Re: Characters as Bankers?
Yes,Ken, basically it simply means you have a secondary character that you dont really play, but instead have parked in a major city, close to the bank, the AH, and a mailbox. This gives you a person to mail items to, either to put in the bank (gives you twice as much storage as your first character's bank by itself), or to sell on the AH. This is easier than always having to take your main back to the cities to do this stuff.

Re: Characters as Bankers?
it definitely improved my leveling last night. I was able to mail everything I wanted to keep instead of going to the bank in the city, and because of this I had much more room in my inventory so I could stay out in the field to complete multiple quests. Great suggestion!

All that typing for nothing. [logs off, dejected] ;DNukeHavoc wrote:What does this mean? How do you use a character as a banker? Is it just holding gold for your other characters?

No, no - that's your Mailbox Dancer. Totally different thing. Roll a Nelf, dump the clothes, and jump on a mailbox. Instant tips from all the 13-yr-old players in IF.Lars Porsenna wrote:Yes, but if you create a banker toon, you can't give it any clothes...

We are so NOT trying to encourage that behaviour!

Re: Characters as Bankers?
FYI, I've made over 100 gold just tossing excess stuff to my banker to post in the AH. This is significant because a) my highest level characters is level 26, b) I've still been sending a bunch of stuff to Delven and Duklar. So if you don't have a banker, I would highly suggest one.

Re: Characters as Bankers?
The economy of our server has inflated tremendously since Wrath was released. As the level cap raises and people are making more money (Erilar nets ~13g per quest, not counting quest rewards and grey & green drops), dropping some cash on lowbie alts is no big deal, so prices for anything gear- or crafting-related have skyrocketed.
Two examples: Zack and I are working on a quest chain for Uldaman that requires 5 silver bars. Except they are selling for like 5g each these days! Dropping that quest line...
Second, Eri wanted to make some Tough Scorpid armor for Zack's toon. Except, [Scorpid Scales] (skinned at a rate of 40% off lvl 40 mobs) are selling for like 8g right now, and he needed 80 of them to make Zack a set of armor! Madness!! (So, during my cold-induced insomnia early Tue morn, Erilar slaughterized every poor scorpid in the Badlands for an hour and farmed them up.)
This is all good news for you guys - SO much easier for you to make money than it was for us at launch (IF you use the AH, that is). Between the price of gathering mats and green drops, you are swimming in cash compared to where Jon and I were at lvl 20.

Did you already drop those quests? Cause IIRC I have like 40 bars of silver...erilar wrote:Two examples: Zack and I are working on a quest chain for Uldaman that requires 5 silver bars. Except they are selling for like 5g each these days! Dropping that quest line...

Re: Characters as Bankers?
No, we still have the quest at this point. Thing is though, wouldn't you rather sell them on the AH for the 50g or whatever you could get out of them?? The quest reward at the end of the chain isn't useful to Zack or my character, so we're just losing the quest XP - not worth 50-80g probably.

Its really up to you. I save my mats because I'm not hurting for gold right now, especially for making stuff...
