Upcoming DC set

Post by EvilGenius »

Every time I think I'm pretty much out of buying clix, they put out a really cool DC set.

The DC set from last fall, Justice League, didn't excite me overmuch. But the next set, Crisis (due out on a month or so), looks REALLY cool. I think that WK has a much better handle on the special powers now and they're making special powers that are neat, but not overpowering (no bamf-ing batmen in this set, for example).

And seriously, check out some of these sculpts.

The Flash (Barry Allen) -

World's Finest (Batman/Superman) -

And the dials are cool, too. The World's Finest is 500 points and is pretty uber (not broken, like bamf-bats, but definitely uber), but the other dials are just good numbers and good power combos. Even the low point figures are very playable (not gamebreaking, just playable).

Even if we never play again, I've got to get some of these clix just because they're so frickin cool!

I don't know. Yes they look all cool and broken, but I think I'm still content to use the clix I have, and not buy another one from the old sets, let alone any of these new, non-REV, carded type of clix.

Well, I do tend to be a contratian by nature. But the new figures are MUCH more in line with what I always wanted them to be. Some are ridiculous, like bamf-man. But I think the designers have hit their groove now. A lot of the new figs are playable, seem to have appropriate costs and generally have cool sculpts.

While it is theoretically true that any team should equal any other team with the same point total, we all know that there are some combos and figures which seem to be more effective in play.

So while it was also theoretically possible to have a good competitive team with favorite characters (like a teen titans team, frex), they just weren't able to compete with a power team.

With the newer figs, points equality is much more likely, which is an improvement, IMO.

We had tons of fun with our clix and i don't want to throw them away or anything, but the new figures are really growing on me. I won't be buying a case or anything, but there are definitely some figures I want to get.

I'm with you. We rarely play and as much as I like some of these characters/sculpts, I just couldn't justify putting more money into this game.
