Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Spoilers!)

Post by Hardcorhobbs »

So I didn't realize what they revealed in the mid season finale, but the show runners confirmed that it's true.

Skye's real name was given as Daisy. This is as in Daisy Johnson. In the comics she's a "caterpillar" (a list of powered beings, often relatives of more powerful characters) recruited by Nick Fury during the Secret Invasion since he didn't trust anyone else. Daisy is the team leader in the run by Hickman, and became my favorite character. So I'm super excited about this news! Can't wait to see what they do with her when it returns. (Even though I'm very happy with the first ep of Agent Carter!)

I was under the impression she is/going to be one of the Inhumans, and a lo-ong term setup for the Imhuman's movie they're doing in a few years...

Unless that is what you are talking about and you just know more about the lore... :D

She's not an inhuman in the comics. She gained her powers from her father's bloodline (Mister Hyde, who is also who her father is in the show). However it seems since they can't use "mutants" in any way due to studio rights, they are just tying her into the inhuman explanation.

IMHO how she got her powers isn't too important. I'm just overly excited that shes in the MCU. In the comics she was one of only three agents to have level 10 clearance; the other two being Fury and Black Widow. She also became acting director, and for a brief time was basically an avenger. The Secret Warriors run was one of my favorite comic runs of the past few years. Also it totally makes sense they are using this run as a basis as that's where it was revealed that Shield was working for Hydra in the comics!

Skye is a great character and I'm just loving SHEILD. :)

I'm mad at the ending of last season, though. A certain thing happened that shouldn't have.

I figured that's what you meant. Yeah I was bummed too. But I expected it at the same time (just not who). It is after all a Joss Wheton show.

The way I heard it, the actor who played Tripp had some scheduling conflicts that made staying on the show difficult. I was sad to see him go too.

I heard the same about the actor for Tripp. So at least there is an excuse and it wasn't Whedon falling for the TVTrope: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/M ... eDiesFirst

There's even a blurb about the specific sequence!
Double Subverted in Agents Of Shield: the first member of the team to apparently die and not be revealed as actually alive before the episode ends is Mack. Towards the end of the next episode, it is revealed to the viewer that he probably survived after all... only for the other black guy on the team, Trip, to die a rather definitive death.

Yeah, I've seen people are seriously making the race argument online and it's dumb. Joss Whedon has his own trope. He kills one of the most beloved characters on the show when you are least expecting it.

See: Buffy, Angel, Serenity. No one is safe when you are in Whedon's hands!

Hell, Whedon's the one that killed Colson!
