What I'm hoping to do with Berigal is to help protect the party before they get messed up in combat with the undead.

A +1 dex bump combined with Improved Initiative will give me a good chance to go at least before some of the monsters, if not before the superfast party members. :)

I'm taking the Good and Protection domains. Good will give me a +1 caster level bump for Good spells, but more importantly, I'll get Protection from Evil, Aid and Magic Circle vs Evil as domain spells. Can't have enough of those spells in Barovia!

The Protection domain lets me grant a +5 resistance bonus to one save made in the next hour. That will be super useful for us making saves vs level drain.

Berigal is decent vs the undead. His Turn bonus is +5, he can turn 6 times/day and his Turn damage is 2d6+8. Max undead HD able to affect is 9HD. Not super, but decent.

But with the Quicken Turning feat, once per round I can make a Turn check as a free action. So I can cast a protective spell and make a pretty good turn check to help ward off the bad guys.

And if I cast the 2nd level Consecrate, then my Turn modifier is +8 for my free turn check (making it more likely I'll be able to affect the undead, but not how many I can turn).

So, Berigal is a pretty balanced protection/turn&burn cleric.

Garwick worships Gaerdal Ironhand, gnomish god of protection, vigilance and combat.

Garwick gives the utility of a few extra 1st and 2nd level clerical spells, and decent combat abilities against lower level opponents.

In most of our combats, I see Garwick running around to people to provide spot healing with his Wand of Cure Light, or helping out with a protection spell or two.

And with this thread, I've gone plunging back into the world of d20. Lost my head there in Savage Worlds and Battlestar for a while, but now I'm swimming in stats again. Thanks Bob! :)

Hehe. Those guys are interesting though, Bob. Sound effective, and as you said, it's tough out there in Barovia.
