So I'm up to lvl 12 in Old Republic. And a few days ago I actually got a congratulatory email from BioWare! LOL! In a nutshell it congratulated me on reaching a significant milestone and then gave some tips and insight on how to progress after lvl 10. Very cool! :)

Yes, I do. I'll have to check the spelling of his name later, though...

Celesta is up to ~lvl 23 now, so please feel free to jump back on your main Republic toons - you now have a viable healer to help out. :)

Save up all your Heroics on Nar Shaddaa and we'll tackle those together!

Excellent! Hammer Station here we come!

My Smuggler/Sawbones is up to 13, verging on 14. I didn't get a lot of time to play this week or last weekend. But he seems to level pretty quickly. So he'll also be available for healing soon. But I'd like to do Esseles with him before he gets much higher.

If you like, park Ellington for a week and I'll level up my Guardian through Tython so he can tank the Essles FP. I'm kind of sick of Nar Shaddaa for the moment anyway. Second time through and it isn't any more interesting. :P

Mike (Gorius) is saying that Tattooine is really fun - looking forward to getting Celesta there (and buying her speeder too).

So far Quest has visited Tython, Coruscant, Ord Mantell, Nar Shadaa, and Taris. Taris was fun for a while, but HUGE! Morquol so far has been on Korriban, Dromund Kaas, Balmorra, and now Nar Shaddaa (again!). Both my soldier and bounty hunter are still in the starting areas (Hutta for the latter). Definitely need a change of scenery!

Yeah, Nar Shadda isn't my fav but no biggie. I'm getting to try out different options as a smuggler. :)

For some reason, I also enjoyed Taris a bit more this time with my Sage vs. Kalli the Gunslinger. Part of that may have been the smooth framerate from the new computer - Taris was pretty darn hard on my iMac!

Damon, I definitely agree about the change of scenery. I'm already kind of bored with Celesta's locale, and I've only played two characters!

In WoW, there were two different paths (per faction) one could level through without repeating content. In this game, there's only one per faction, and the factions retread each other at higher levels (although I'm sure some of the quests differ between factions).

Time to make more planets, Bioware - chop, chop! :D

I think the part that really is a turn-off is not so much that there are a limited number of planets (though that is something), but more that the starting areas are all confined to a handful. For example, start a soldier or smuggler? Ord Mantell. Jedi Guardian or Consular? Tython, etc. I think it would have been more interesting if FREX the Sith Soldier started on Korriban, and the Inquisitor started on Ziost or something. While I think it would be acceptable if both go to Dromund Kaas eventually, it;'s a turn off to playing FREX a Sith Inquisitor when there is so much repeat, despite it looking like a cool class (with Force Lightning and what looks like a Sith Abomination as a follower!), I have little motivation to play through the same quests again...

Hopefully this will be addressed as the game matures.

Definitely agree.

I kind of feel that Bioware's design philosophy was: get the single-player RPG really tight first, and then after launch flesh out more of the MMO stuff. I think the assumption was that the average player would pick a single character and play it through to level 50, and that would buy them some time. If so, I think that was a very bad assumption.

Still, this was a pretty damn smooth launch for a first-time MMO developer. The numbers of failed MMOs are easily in the dozens.

I also really wish that they had made the combat itself more enjoyable. The "monitor my cooldowns" style of play is really getting tired. Look at a game like DC Universe Online - what if the combat had been dynamic like that?

Or Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - that's one I just started. This combat is REALLY compelling. Sure, this is a single-player RPG, but its stylings are very based in MMO tropes - MMOs are what Curt Shilling had been playing for years, and KoA:R is really only a teaser for the MMO they will eventually launch.

Free my butt from a dumb channeling bar and let me dance a bit, dang it!
