Sure, this is a single-player RPG, but its stylings are very based in MMO tropes - MMOs are what Curt Shilling had been playing for years, and KoA:R is really only a teaser for the MMO they will eventually launch.
Not to completely thread-jack, but...

Wow, I just looked up some info re: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, as I knew it was Curt Schilling's project, but R.A. Salvatore created much of the lore, Todd McFarlane did a bunch of the art - this has some pretty big names attached to it. I'm excited for it - and excited I'll be able to play on my xbox. :)

yeah, I saw your tweet about that. It looks cool, but I haven't read much about it yet.

There's a demo available on XBL, Jon, so you can ch-check it out. :)

I personally wasn't impressed, but I also don't like hand-holding demos, which it is. Might pick it up on the cheap later, but I have enough to play now.

Now, if you want a cool demo that throws you right in the action check the demo for Asura's Wrath. It's the first game in a while I'll be paying full price for (unless I get it for my Birthday).

The KoA:R demo is in two parts. The first part is the tutorial/intro part of the main game. One you get through that and out into the wide world, it gives you 45 minutes carte blanche to explore, level up a bit, try some new powers and attacks, and do whatever you want. So, if you quit while you were still in the tower, you missed the good part. :)

I beat the tower and explored the world a bit. I still wasn't impressed.

Soooo anyway, SW characters. :)

Lance, I'll park the smuggler for now. I think I'm going to start a Trooper/tank. :)

Damon, if you level your Trooper healer up to 10, you can go with!

I'll have to look. I think he's already pretty close to that now...

I created a Jedi Consular named Benjenk. He's up to 4th or 5th now.

I ALSO did a really dumb thing with Kalib's craft skills. Some time ago I dropped Treasure Hunting and picked up Slicing. This was a very good move. I went from being chronically broke to being able to drum up creds whenever I need them. Very cool.

The downside is that many of the materials I needed for my Artifice crafting skill were no longer available. 'No Problem', I said. 'My second character, Ellington, is already crafting Cybertech. Kalib will drop Artifice and pick up another Gather skill and then Ellington will drop a Gather skill and take Artifice, giving him two crafting skills. Heck, maybe Ellington will pick up 3 crafting skills. Then Kalib can gather, Ellington can craft.'

So I dropped Artifice from Kalib. And Ellington went to the trainer to learn Artifice ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE CRAFTING SKILL!!!!!! FRACK!

Hence, my new Jedi Consular. :) After a few more levels, Benjenk will become our Artifice crafter .....

Hmmm, wondering if I should mention that Quest has Artifice. No, probably shouldn't...

Yes, I know, Damon. To clarify, my new consular will become MY Artifice crafter ('our' was referring to my characters only).

I'm also going to create another Jedi Knight who will take the other advanced class, Jedi Guardian (heavy armor specialist). He's going to take the Synthweaving craft, I think.

And I'd still like to make a Trooper who will take the Vanguard advanced class (tank specialization). He'll either take Armorcraft or BioChem.

I will get back to TOR shortly. For now, Mass Effect 3 is eating my lunch, and no other sci fi games need apply. Between that and a little occasional MW3 multiplayer with Jeff Laidacker, and my dance card is pretty full.

Zeke asked for a computer upgrade for his birthday (which will arrive in a few weeks), and he's TOR-curious, so that'll be one more reason for me to get back to it before long.

For now - all Reapers must die.
