This character would be perfect for one of the "big" Periphery states.

The Taurian Concordat(Space Canadians) has an aggressive expansionist/exploratory policy. The only only downside would be they HATE DAVIONS!!!!!

Another option would be the Magistracy of Canopus(maternal dominated space vixens/hedonists; they're rumored to have genengineered MERMAIDS, and their biggest export are "pleasure circuses" next to medical technology), which has its own (lower key) expansionsit policy.

Lastly there is the Outworlds Alliance(Space Amish), which has shrunk to half its size during the Succession Wars...what happened to all those lost planets? I figure someone would be out there looking for them...

Jeez! In that case, my character's big ambition is to retire to this place!!

Sorry haven't had time to work on it. Trying to get all these little projects done around the house before my gf visits this weekend. I'm planning on building a sniper/heavy weapon specialist. I was going to go new guy route, but I may just make him fresh off his military service.

Lenny is the dirtbag mechanic for my mech jockey. He was originally stationed with a "Dirty Dozen"-type, second-chance Davion outfit, but was dishonorably discharged from even that seedy post for "ahh, a minah disagreement - fuggedaboudit!"

Lenny is good at fixing or jury-rigging just about anything (including supply depot magnalocks), scrounging, and general sneaking about. Also actually pretty good with a pistol in a pinch. Always moving about hidden in a firefight, looking for an advantageous spot.

Could someone check whether Covert Operatives stacks with Skill Focus (Stealth)? It's on page 28 of Galaxy at War.

I have a 13 in stealth without the feat w/ my Skill Focus, and SagaSheet isn't adding the extra +3 to stealth checks from Covert Operatives. Not sure if it's an error on SagaSheet, or if there's some cap on skill bonuses or something?

It doesn't say specifically if it will stack or not. I'd say it probably does.

Correction: according to the "Team Feats" entry on same page, it says that "the feat provides the same type of bonus that us provided by the Skill Focus feat." Therefore they DO NOT stack.

Edited my character block to reflect dropping Covert Ops feat (took Fleet-Footed instead).

Point about money: the conversion rate between SW and Battletech is that Battletech items prices are around 32% of those in Star Wars. If you all still have cash on your character sheets, multiply by 32% to get the "battletech" equivalent (which would be in C-bills or COmStar bills). The reason this is important is for people that want to have their own mechs, or wish to invest in them in the future. Mechs are very, very expensive (in SW money a light mech at 3mil C-bils would cost 9,375,000cr!). I think there are some talents that can give you lots of cash, and I think it would unbalance the group is we have one guy in an assault while everyone else is tooling around in lights...

I think there are a few noble talents that can rake in some serious cash, but I don't know if anything gets *that* huge. It's designed more around being able to buy a Star Wars-era starships (so maybe 100k cr at most). Even with the multipler I don't know that you're getting there from here, but if so as the GM I think you just rule them out.

My expectation as a player was that that either the mercenary company would end up owning all the mechs (as we pool our resources from jobs to buy upgrades) or we slowly accumulate our own cash from battles to pay for a mech of our own).

So I think with Lance and my character's done, we've got enough to start role-playing in Google Wave.

What do you think Damon?

We could start. I may get around to kicking things off tonite, but I'm really, really tired (Kaylee was up at the crack of dawn, waking me up by saying "Daddy, I'm hungy..."), so may not do anything tonite...

No hurry. I plan on vegetating on the couch tonight anyway. :)
