Aftermath: The Battle of Widow's Landing

Post by Lars Porsenna »

The Battle of Widow's landing, occurring 3 October 2950, was a total rout of local defense forces, and the Blazing Aces, working for the financial entity Donner & Bormann successfully seized 3mil C-Bills in silver bullion from the Administrator's facility. In addition, from the bullion convoy from the provinces, you also seize another 2.5mil C-Bills worth of silver, for a total of 5.5mil C-bills value.

After kicking over the convoy, you seem to have alerted the entire planet. What passes for a local defence force musters, and radio chatter increases exponentially. You have no idea if the enemy has more mechs, but based on local chatter you safely conclude that they probably have several platoons worth of light tanks in the area, as well as around a battalion of infantry. Thus, you beat a hasty retreat back to the Union-class dropship Bun-bun and burn for the nadir jumpoint, and a pre-arranged jumpship.

On board ship, while pulling 1.5Gs out of the planet's atmosphere, Jack turns to you all after you get cleaned up. He seems to be a bit more sober, but the sour stink of alcohol and old beer wafts over you as he addresses the group. "You all did...adequately," he says. "Tough luck on losing the Urbanmech" he says "but then, they're made for urban warfare. U-r-b-a-n-m-e-ch." He says this last slowly, as if talking to a bunch of retarded children. You get the feeling this guy is not a people person. Maybe that's why he's out here in the crap end of the Periphery. "That's gonna cost us..."

Lenny can't resist, and pipes up. "Maybe you should, aah, replace it with something with a bit more back armor, boss?"

Lenny was originally supposed to be my 'mech jocky's mechanic, but since he's the RP character that I'm developing, maybe it would be more fun if he were the pilot. Did we need to take some skill or feat during character creation to make them our pilot? (Like the Pilot skill, I suppose?)

BTW, very fun session Damon - good job on the scenario and RP stuff!

No, everyone decided it would be easier to just keep the skills seperate. I might do a "battletech XP" for p&G advancement, but we'll see how things go...

Thanks! Already have ideas for adventure 2!

"Perhaps next time we watch friendly fire, Yes? As for replacement, another big gun mech is good, though one with more secondary weapons would be better. I was almost out of ammo when mech was slagged."
