I read an interesting rule on DR recently. Magical enchantment of +3 or higher will overcome certain types of DR. +3 weapons overcome cold iron and silver DR. +4 weapons overcome those plus adamantine. +5 weapons overcome those plus alignment based DR.
That's a pretty awesome rule fix in Pathfinder, which actually goes a long way toward reducing the need for a golf bag full of different weapons.
The only caveat is that this rule only counts the actual "+"s on the weapon. So if you have a +1 Keen shortsword, the Keen quality (which is a '+1 ability'), does not help to overcome DR. On the other hand, the Bane quality DOES help you overcome DR but only for the specific creature type targetted by Bane.
For example, a +1 Axe, Bane: Evil Outsiders, counts as a +3 weapon vs Evil Outsiders, which would allow you to bypass Cold Iron or Silver DR, against Evil Outsiders only.
