So, the seven main dialects of Romani are all within the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-Iranian language family, and would have loan words from whatever language the Gypsy community resided, so it would sound similar to the languages spoken in Northern India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, particularly Hindi-Urdu, which is the most commonly spoken language in India, and what most Americans would consider stereotypical of the region.
