Research on Isis

Post by setanta14 »

Isis is the first daughter of Geb, god of the Earth, and Nut, goddess of the Sky.

She married her brother, Osiris, and she conceived Horus with him.

She was worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the patroness of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans and the downtrodden, but she also listened to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats and rulers.

Isis tricked Ra into telling her his "secret name" by causing a snake to bite him, the antidote to whose venom only Isis possessed. Knowing his secret name thus gave her power over him. The use of secret names became central in many late Egyptian magic spells.

Isis was instrumental in the resurrection of Osiris when he was murdered by Set. Using her magical skills, she restored Osiris' body to life after having gathered the body parts that had been strewn about the earth by Set.

Isis had a central role in Egyptian magic spells and ritual, especially those of protection and healing. In many spells her powers are merged with those of her son Horus. His power accompanies hers whenever she is invoked. In Egyptian history the image of a wounded Horus became a standard feature of Isis's healing spells, which typically invoked the curative powers of Isis' milk.

In Atlantean lore, Isis aided in the building of the Great Hall of Atlantis in the previous astrological age, the Age of Aries (the current astrological age being the Age of Pisces, and the next being the Age of Aquarius). The Great Hall of Atlantis, which controlled that "Cycle of Time" and contained the physical "Hall of Records" for that cycle, was surrounded by several crystal-peaked pyramids, which could harness Vril power from the ley line grid, which all converged over the continent of Atlantis. It was also from here that the original settlers of the pyramid building cultures throughout the world embarked shortly before the time of the Great Obscurement.
