Current Plans: HoD

Post by EvilGenius »

With the wrap of Brigga's extraplanar jaunt and closing the portal in Brigga's basement, the party has to decide what to do next. Here's a recap of where you are.

Location - the entire party, including seldom participating pcs like Mordai and support staff like Alizar the djinn, along with all of your gear in one of Lonz's wagons, is currently camped outside of Brigga's former stronghold.

Personnel - in addition to the active and passive PCs, you have rescued 3 powerful dwarves from Obsidian Bay (Duklar, Moraim & Luc), several other adventurers from Obsidian Bay who were sent to look for the dwarves, several other adventuring types whom you rescued from the giants, and now the 2 adventurers you've rescued from the Elemental Plane of Air.

Plans - The Obsidian Bay dwarves intend to head to Rookroost for a little recuperation before once more setting out to find Brigga's kinsmen. The rest of the OB rescue parties seem undecided. Some are looking for adventure in this area, some intend to head to Rookroost with the dwarves.

The rescued adventurers from the Air plane think heading to Rookroost sounds good, unless anyone else comes up with a different plan.

Several of the adventurers who are from this region are looking for things to do in this area.

Farweald - The last time you were in Farweald you were (temporarily) banished from town following your brawl at the jail with Lonz (human fighter/rogue) and Balrakas (red dragonborn fighter/spellcaster of some kind). The Constable banished you but on your way out you met the Council, led by Bern Haupt (of Haupt's Wonders, the fancy-schmancy store in town). Bern apologized, lifted the ban, and invited you to all come and stay in his very large, fancy-schmancy manor.

You had also discovered that the town's herbalists (husband and wife) had been killed in a fire. The husband had maybe suffered some sort of physical trauma before that? His arm had been severed mid-way through his forearm. You hadn't found out anything more about that.

The tieflings are awaiting word of what you found at Quirinseyru's stronghold. What you discovered was that Quirinseyru is dead and you are the ones who killed him. And that the tieflings in Farweald were hiding something for him.

Also, racial incidents against tieflings had been on the rise.

There had been weird fights and arguments starting in town. There was even a mini-riot in the marketplace. It appeared to be over old grudges and disputes.

You had enlisted the aid of Shining Justice, another adventuring band in town, to bolster your reputation in town, but you aren't sure if it actually worked.

Since leaving Farweald you have discovered quite a bit of information. I'll give a brief summary here.

You found a destroyed home that had a damaged teleportation circle. It seemed like a familiar place, but none of you were particularly drawn to it. You speculated that maybe it was connected to a PC who wasn't with you anymore? Maybe Balisar or Naziah?

You found Quirinseyru's stronghold and with it, a host of memories of your former lives. You also found Quirinseyru's Journals, which could only be read in his library. From the journals you learned that Quirinseyru was a Silver Dragon and he had recruited all of you individually to undertake noble missions for him.

You learned that:
* The Master was Erk's Warlock patron, though you don't know any more about him/her/it.
* Not all of your original party turned evil. Some stood with Quirinseyru but were defeated.
* Quirinseyru had discovered an alchemical method to probably change Jareth's race back to elf. There were a few details in the Journals and apparently Quirin had successfully brewed some of the mixture, which was nowhere to be found.
* The black dragonborn from Farweald, Krytos, teleported away from Quirin's lair when you defeated the guardians (bone nagas). He seemed contemptuous of you.
* You found the stone room that some of you woke up in, to start this campaign.
* There was the un-activated clone of a half-orc still in the stone room on one of the bare stone tables. Not all of you recognized him but some did. Quirin's Journals identified him as Thulik. You don't have much information about him but it seems he probably joined your group after you had already lost part of your souls and were on the path to corruption. You don't know if he was a good guy or a bad guy, but he didn't appear in your recovered memories.

You also defeated a small tribe of hill giants who kept wyverns as pets. In your final fight with them, your former companion, Balisar, fought against you and revealed that he now served The Master.

The rumored stronghold of 'new dwarves' that you were searching for turned out to be Brigga's former stronghold, which wasn't to be found because it had been transported somehow to the Plane of Elemental Earth (where Brigga and Quarion had found it previously).

Brigga's old underground complexes held a stable portal to the plane of elemental earth, though it led to a different location than where her former stronghold was. Brigga felt drawn to this portal, personally, and discovered that she could attune to the portal (after slaying the creature who was attuned to it when you got there). When Brigga was able to attune to the portal, she was able to shut it permanently, and in so doing she recovered a missing piece of her soul.

I think the next step is to follow-up with the tieflings about the current state of things ... and to see if we can figure out what they are hiding.

Brigga's ultimate goal is to find and confront the Master, so whatever is most likely to lead her to that end is the one she will advocate following. :)

Onarra will suggest that, in light of Brigga's memory recovery being linked to closing the portal in her stronghold, perhaps we should consider doing the same with the portal in Jareth's digs...unless I'm remembering that incorrectly.
