New PC: Silas Dunharrow

Post by setanta14 »

Ok, since Ian has a good pile of loot and a scandalous tapestry, he's gonna head back to Obsidian Bay to purchase (or have a new place built in the Adventurer's Quarter) a building to make into a rowdy tavern/night club for adventurers... called Malcanthet's Den of course  Ian has neither the skills nor the patience required to properly chronicle and map the Maure expedition, as both Malphas and George would expect to be done, and so will return to OB.

Meanwhile, my new PC... Silas Dunharrow, a male human Expert/Fighter/Royal Explorer will be joining the party.

I may have to create him the old fashioned way with pencil and paper, because the new version of HeroForge only supports 3.5 prestige classes, and Royal Explorer was from Song and Silence, and wasn't converted to 3.5 (and the version of HeroForge 3.5 that includes Royal Explorer doesn't support the Dragon Magazine Greyhawk feats, or any book after Complete Divine)... how primitive :?

Anyways, Silas is specialized in research, knowledge (especially cults and Necros), and survival type skills. While he can hold his own in a fight, he generally is reserved unless fighting demons. He is associated with the Cartographers Guild (the mapmakers, not the hooligans :D ) in Obsidian Bay, and recently became an acquaintance of George Fillerman, from whom he learned of the recent uncovery of additional knowledge regarding Necros.

Ah... luckily I was able to use my skilz to manipulate the old version of HeroForge3.5 to accomodate the new feats (which is easier than trying to create new classes in the current version).

So, here is the full character concept:

Silas Dunharrow; male human(Oeridian) Fighter 6/Expert 4/ Royal Explorer 2 from the Kingdom of Keoland, where the Royal Explorers Society is based from the Royal Library of Keoland in Niole Dra. He has only recently gained acceptance to that austere organization, due to the rigorous testing required of its members.

He is a professionally trained cartographer, and an accomplished scholar of a few specific subjects, having received his education from the Temple of Delleb in Niole Dra. Throughout Silas' adventuring career, he has taken a particular interest in the Great Migrations, where a millenia ago the various tribes of humanity spread into the Flaneass. He also has a special interest in the evil cults that developed anew or existing ones that were affected by the migrations, and the so-called Fading Lands of the Flanaess, such as the Crypts of the Iron Souls, the Faerie Court of Rings (Unseelie Court), with a particular focus on the Fading Land of Necros.

Having heard tales from the Pomarj of the place known as Brantis Hold, and its associating with the Fading Land of Necros, Silas travelled to Obsidian Bay to learn more. There, he quickly learned that the enigmatic Blackrazor Guild was responsible for the tales which had reached Keoland, and so Silas befriended that guild's scholar, George Fillerman. Silas found that George had been tasked with translating a tome recovered from Brantis Hold called the Gospel of Necros, and that an expedition to the ruins of Maure Castle in the Duchy of Urnst had recently been mounted due to its alleged links to Necros.

Silas therefore signed on to both the Blackrazor Guild (so as to be privvy to the lore uncovered at Maure Castle), and to the Cartographer's Guild in Obsidian Bay. He intends to rendezvous with his guildmates (whom he has thus far never met) at the campsite known to have been set up just to the northwest of Maure Castle's ruins on a wooded hill. He does not know that this campsite was abandoned, as it was the site of a masacre of several neophyte guildmembers. Finding a way past the Unopenable Doors may prove more difficult...
