"This enemy you cannot kill. You can only drive it back damaged into the depths, and teach your children to watch the waves for its return." - Quellcrist Falconer
As a recap, our heroes trekked to the Ivlis Marsh in the southeastern reaches of Barovia, searching for the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind. There they encountered a number of foes.
They were first attached by and some Bloodmotes (an undead swarm of biting, bloodsucking insects) and a Shambler.
They then pushed on, encountering some giant, sickly Blood Eels, and their raving master - a nasty, obviously insane, watery hag.
They discovered a strange, runed pillar on a small island, surrounded by a eldritch spell circle. Hanging around the pillar was the object of their quest - the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind.
The Symbol is a platinum amulet shaped like the sun, with a large crystal embedded in the center. Around the crystal are inscribed symbols of light and truth. In-game Knowledge (Religion) checks may reveal more info. It is clear to any divine caster, however, that this item is much more than a simple holy symbol.
