Star Trek collectable minis games

Post by Lars Porsenna »

I saw this, rumor has it that Wizkids is going to come out with the above. Not sure how I feel...

I'm voting 'fake' based on the inconsistent dialogs on that slide. All the other slides have a very presentation-oriented "Talking points" format, and then there's this sudden and very wordy Star Trek slide.

If this is the debut of the license, I can see them being a bit wordier - sure. But then they'd also probably not shove the slide all the way near the end of the presentation.

I'd love to see a clickable Star Trek game; I think it could be a lot of fun -- there are loads of ships to chose from, and IMHO the click mechanic would work great with starships (what with fields rising and falling, power being redirected to deflector arrays, etc.)

And I think it could look great on the table top. I wouldn't be as thrilled with a constructible game (particularly one using the rather crappy Star Wars rules; I want tactical movement damn it!)

Has there been any further confirmation / denial on this? It still seems like an awesome idea.

Just got verification from the official Star Trek page on Facebook that this project is moving forward, and should hit the stores by Christmas. More information as I find it...

Press release from Wizkids site: http://wizkidsgames.com/blog/2010/06/08 ... m-wizkids/

I'm wondering what they mean by "digitally?" I wonder if this is going to be like the Pirates or SW constructable card games? If so, I think I'll pass...

I think "digitally" means an online game.

Wizkids apparently is previewing the ship models at Gencon:

Reaction: nice looking models, but the inter-model scale is completely borked (not that I expected anything different)...

If nothing else, it looks like they are at least trying to show that "this one's bigger than this one". Not a huge fan of Star Trek, but the models look nice. Will the production ones be pre-painted?
