Jedi Starfighter

Post by Hardcorhobbs »

At Nuke(m)con Ken used his new maps as the base on Ord Brokell. On that map was a small starfighter, which Lance asked if he could use as his starfighter. I agree that it's better looking than the Star Sabre XC-01, so I went ahead and put together this write-up. It will use the same stats for a Star Sabre XC-01, but you'll get a cooler ship out of the deal:

Subpro Corporation SRX-17 Starfighter

The SRX-17 was Subpro Corporation's entry to the Republic's call for a "Generation Tomorrow Starfighter". In fact Subpro was so proud of their design they immediately put it into production. Unfortunately the performance of the SRX-17 was very similar to the Star Sabre XC-01, one of the starfighters the republic was replacing. Thus they lost out to the Aurek tactical strikefighter.

Subpro was still confident in their design, so undeterred by this loss they changed the marketing to target independent planetary defense forces. At first they made a few sales, however they quickly died off. The market was still saturated with fighters from the Great Sith War. To add injury to insult, the republic began selling off their old starfighers as they were replaced by the strikefighter. In the end, Subpro was forced to sell the SRX-17 at a deep discount.

Because the SRX-17 had similar performance to the Star Sabre XC-01, many Jedi schools purchased the deeply discounted newer ships to replace their aging Star Sabres. As such it saw heavy action in the Mandalorian Wars, mainly from the Revinist Faction.
