Recipe for Disaster: Roast Boar w/ Guava and Peach Schnapps
Recipe for Disaster: Roast Boar w/ Guava and Peach Schnapps
So, our last adventure was filled with both triumphs and setbacks:
We successfully used a boat during a mission (never happened for Blackrazors) when we picked up a shipment of fancy liqueur, outwitting some other thugs trying to acquire it.
We had a party member kidnapped by wererats (sorry Phil). Apparently when we not so subtly confronted Saul about some accounting discrepancies before the boat job, he got paranoid and had us replaced and attempted to have us whacked when we returned with the liqueur... The pitfight boss Bojask the Hoglover and his boar and some other bouncers were chasing off Samaritha just as we arrived, and she helped us in the fight (she apparently is quite mean spirited when provoked), felling both hog and lover and the rest of the guys.
Tholyr made contact with a creepy elven dude (Kwava) who had been watching us from the shadows for a while... At least he knew where Phil was taken, and by whom. He's investigating those in Riddleport with unexplainable coin and influence, i.e. Saul, as he likely has some sort of unrevealed backer.
Since the whole job with Saul didn't work out, we have a back-up plan, as Clegg has use for us managing the Gold Goblin after we take care of Saul, and he also agreed to have Jheru move the Captain's Tea to his casino in the meantime instead.
So, now we plan the recovery of Phil from the wererats, and then find a way to infiltrate Saul's again to find out what he's doing with all the extra coin that he's hiding away in the basement. Clegg's working on finding out if any old pirate smuggling tunnels run under the place.

Yeah, good session. I even got to stabbify some doods!!!! (and I refrained from stabbing some others by successfully intimidating and bluffing!! Look at me, ma! I'm GROWing!!)
Another daring escape for the intrepid Spaceman Spiff!

Phil became the new floor manager.erilar wrote:Um, how is it that I can get kidnapped when I'm not even playing?
The party mentioned they knew there were financial irregularities in terms of the amount of gold coming into the Gold Goblin, and the weekly operating expenses.
Saul panicked. Based on what Samaritha saw, it seemed like he was abducting Phil so that he could pin his disappearance on a rival gang and lure the PCs in to a trap when they went to recover him. Sam saw what happened though. Realizing the gig was up, Saul sicced his goons on her in an attempt to silence the mage. The party arrived back just as she was fleeing down the street, looking for them.
Net-net, it worked story-wise. Don't worry; he's not dead yet and the PCs know where he is. Or at least, their new elven ally does...
I'll start a new interlude to deal with the Hunt for Phil.

Is this interlude material? I was under the impression that the were-rats had Phil, the elf-hawk man knew where they were keeping him in the boneyard, and we were going to high-tail it to his rescue. I'm not sure we want to leave him with were-rats long, so I'm not sure prolonged preparations are in order: we need to move now to resuce him.NukeHavoc wrote:Net-net, it worked story-wise. Afterwards we can look to why Riddleport has a population of lycanthropes hanging around, how common this is, and what to do about it long-term, as well as getting back to the whole Saul debacle, but really, I think we need to act, and act now to get Phil back.

Yeah, I agree with Jon. We don't want to take a lot of time here. We should be going after Phil either the night that he's kidnapped or early the next morning. We can, however, take a few minutes to plan and to try and gather a few resources.

Dude, "shapeshifters". Not the next morning, like now. I was under the impression there was a bit of urgency, after all, we got magically healed so we wouldn't have to rest up, and could begin pursuit forthwith.EvilGenius wrote:Yeah, I agree with Jon. Sure, we can plan on the way, stop briefly along the way for a supply or two we might need to gather, but I say the sooner we go the better for our buddy Phil.

Well, we need an interlude to (quickly) procure some silvered weapons, or else it's a suicide run... Once we have them, we grab Kwava (and Samaritha?) and it's off to combat we go.
Re: Recipe for Disaster: Roast Boar w/ Guava and Peach Schna
Yeah, and I knew this was at least part of what Bob was referring to, and sure, we need to do that. I just wanted to stress that interlude time to deal with Saul, or how Tholyr even knew this elf-hawk man, etc. should probably wait til after the resuce. Anything we can get to help, and any plans we can make re: assaulting the lycanthropes in the boneyard, sure those need to happen, but they should happen as quickly as possible, as well, I think.setanta14 wrote:Well, we need an interlude to (quickly) procure some silvered weapons, or else it's a suicide run... Right. I expect this is a short planning interlude with a mad scramble to get gear and weapons together, huddling over a hastily drawn map of the wererat lair, and perhaps a flash sideways to Phil so that Lance knows exactly where the gnome stands (or hangs upside down, his lightsaber just out of reach ... oh wait, wrong game).Jonkga wrote:Dude, "shapeshifters". Ok, to begin, then:
Jheru will survey his companions in the party to see who has any info [knowledge(local), maybe] about where we can acquire silvered weapons, as Kwava said we'd need those.
Kwava also said he had silvered arrows [anything else?] for us, right Tholyr?
Jheru will also ask what his companions might know about shapeshifters in general [some sort of knowledge skill?], and maybe about the shapeshifters in Riddleport in specific [knowledge(local) again?].
Now, we all are going [Jheru, Skender, Tholyr, "Kevn", Kor - the party]. What about Samarantha - is she accompanying us? What about Kwava, is he? Jheru would ask them, and inquire as to what they bring to the party, so we can plan accordingly. of course, they are both welcome, and Samarantha is a firend, but Kwava is an unknown entity really, so we need him to be forthcoming.
What else, guys?

Skender's Knowledge(local) roll to know about wererats:

Total:23
Skender will straight up beg Clegg for assistance in getting some silvered weapons, if not to buy then to borrow for a fee if need be... But the need is great. Diplomacy roll to do this (using Charmer Rogue Talent to take the higher of 2 rolls):
