Dungeon Tiles

Post by NukeHavoc »

I'm not sure if someone posted about these earlier or not:

Dungeon Tiles
http://dxcontent.com/DT_FAQ.html

Basically they're flat tiles for laying out your dungeon. I know we've talked about your classic Dwarven Forge-style pieces as well, but what I like about these is that they're flat ... and thus would be easier to store than Dwarven Forge. Don't get me wrong -- the DF stuff looks great, but space is at a premium. At a glance, these kind of tiles can give you that nice dungeon feel without forcing me to box up half the game room in order to have space to store them. :)

If you want to try this concept out, I could cast up a few...

Ditto Damon. It looks like he's using Hirst Arts 'Cracked Stone Tile' as the base mold for his floor terrain. I have this in my terrain building arsenal, as well as a few other floor types: cobblestone, fieldstone, and cavern floor. We can cast up some samples like a geeky salesman and bring them to the next gaming night.

I have the fieldstone set...as well as the SF set as well. What are you using for casting material? I have both conventional PLaster as well as Hydrocal. I also used Durham's, but that never cured properly still in the mold, and took a long time to cure to the point where I could de-mold. If we coordiinate paint colors and techniques, we can churn a bunch out in no time!

These look really great, and seem to be a great stackable alternative to dungeon tiles.

Now, we just need molds for Space Hulk rooms and corridors... </boner>

These do look very cool. I have no fabrication skills or materials but if Damon and Tom want to go nuts, then ... er, ... go nuts! :D

I've been casting in Veri-Die and Hydrocal or Hydrostone (whichever I picked up at Blick), but still have some Durham's left over. I already have enough fieldstone floor pieces cast, painted, and assembled in 2x2, 4x4, etc. to lay out a basic floor, but the more the merrier. Paint scheme was basic dungeon gray with mixes of black and white: charcoal base for cracks and lows, medium grey for 1st coat/major texture, light grey to white for highlight. Pretty much straight off the Hirst Arts forum. I'll link a photo or some such later.

With the Sci Fi set Damon, you can address Lance's boner...er...savage excitement for space hulk terrain.

I seem to remember being called that...before I ascended.
