WWII Weekend

Post by Lars Porsenna »

As I mentioned game night, on 6-8 June will be WWII weekend at the Reading Airport (http://www.maam.org/maamwwii.html). Every year this is worth going to. Not only does it feature flying historical aircraft (the airshow portion of things), but also re-enactors, displays, a mock battle, collectables, and presentations done by veterans. Also the Mid-Atlantic museum is working on restoring a P-61 Black Widow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-61_Black_Widow) one of my favorite WWII aircraft. Both Compton and Malarky (from Band of Brothers -- the actual men not the actors) are guests this year (last year IIRC it was garnier and Winters). Some years they were able to attract recollections from German fighter pilot and soldiers (one year IIRC Otto Cairus showed up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otto_Carius). Definitely a fun event and worth going to...
