Episode 3, Chapter 3: Eye of the Storm, Part 2

Post by NukeHavoc »

You have successfully captured Jolvis Maltern, the half-mad shaman of the Obsidian Way, and leader of the dissidents on Maltern's Folly. At the same time though, Jedi Master Qillion Kree has become trapped on a deep-sea mining rig after the Quarren there sprung some sort of an ambush.

The Jedi Master is able to get off a warning to you about the Quarren, and explains that while he has subdued the Quarren, they sabotaged the mining rig, preventing him from returning to the surface. Unfortunately before you can talk further, your communications are cut off, presumably by some sort of jammer.

When we return for Part 2 on Friday's game (2/27), the padawans and their allies will have the unconscious Maltern in custody in the malcontent town of Cliffside. You do not know the status of Hardrock, or whether the Quarren there are in on the ambush that cut off Master Kree.

FYI, before I forget:

After the battle is over Rann still feels as though his lungs have been shredded by a thousand tiny cuts. It's not all in his head -- when he coughs, he spits out a glob of blood. His -1 step on the condition track has become persistent, and simple first aid isn't enough to cure it.

+10 Treat Injury Check (my bonus, not rolled). I'd like to check Rann, see if I can determine the problem, and ultimately the treatment.

Rann will need Surgery to remove the persistent damage. He also can't heal at all until the persistent condition is removed. Unfortunately for this we'll need to pick up a surgery kit.

In the meantime Highlife will sit down and catch his breath. From what I saw in the rules as long as there is no persistent damage, your condition track goes to normal after a few rounds. So Highlife should return to normal condition. I'll also take my second wind bringing my hit point total up to 20.

Exactly so. Access to a surgery kit is needed to seal the lesions now riddling Rann's lungs.

Not according to what you posted online. He has a medkit like Highlife, but a surgery kit is another 750 credits beyond that.

Well, it IS on the character sheet I have... and it's why I gave him the Surgical Expertise feat, which DID make it to the stat block.

The surgery will take one uninterrupted hour, but unfortunately for Rann, you don't have that right now.

You are in Jolvis Maltern's throne room, having just defeated him and decimated his honor guard. You know that other guards escorted you to this area, and likely remain nearby outside. There is an excellent chance they will have heard the blaster fire, not to mention tell-tale whistle of lightsabers in battle.

There are several hundred loyal followers of Maltern living in Cliffside, and many of them are between you and the flitter you flew in on.

The first order of business will likely be escape ... or negotiation. :)

Doesn't sound like we have even this much time, but Snaggletooth's Surgical Expertise reduces the surgery time to 10 min. Good to know for when Zealots are not banging down the door ;-)
