Will it play existing DS games?

Well, from everything I read yes it will. Historically Nintendo has always made their handhelds backwards companionable at least one generation. However, those at E3 are questioning this as the 3DS cart has an extra little tab on it. Hopefully that's so you can't put a 3DS game into a previous system, but I'll look for a more official word on that subject.
