First red ring

Post by EvilGenius »

Well it finally happened. Red ring failure. :)
Fortunately the box should still be under the 3 year warranty. I'll take back to best buy on Saturday. Do I need to take the box and cables back with it?

Did you buy the Best Buy protection plan? If not, you will probably have to ship it back to Microsoft. You call their 800 number, and then they ship you a box to send it back in.

Good luck!!

If you have the protection plan box the whole thing up and take it back. They'll likely just give you a new one. If not then yes, you'll have to ship it to Microsoft.

You should copy your saved games over to a memory card before returning it. Since the hard drive is detachable, you should be able to just stop by one of our houses, boot up with the hard drive, and copy stuff to a memory card.

If you're returning to Best Buy, they won't let you keep your existing hard drive. If you're returning to Microsoft, they do.

Oh! And remember you can use a usb stick (or multiple) to back-up your saves.
