Re: Fantasy Flight XWing
Wow, not only are they expensive, but they look huge - as in too big for the game. I'm not sure jumping to that scale will work for the game, especially not on its intended smaller playing surface.
Disappointed to say this seems like more a money grab and the production of display pieces than a good move forward for the game.
But, maybe I'm reading too much into it...

Fantasy Flight was one of the huge exhibitor hall attractions with many of the events sold out.
A friend of mine enjoyed the game he demo'ed in. He's more of a Wings of Glory fan picking up the WW2 version of the game.
He stated taking mechanics/game play of both games and combining them could lead to something truly spectacular. It was firing of one game and the navigation of the other.

It is his fault he didn't lock the garage.

Re: Fantasy Flight XWing
According to Fantasy Flight, the big ships are not for regular tournament play but are for special types of tournaments with special rules (other than 'blow-up-all-enemy-ships').
They also said they weren't able to stick to the strict size ratio that they enforced for every other ship up to this point. :/
So yeah, I think I'll pass on them. For Now ........

Re: Fantasy Flight XWing
Nice that it is including a scenario. IMHO this game NEEDS more scenario games. I think it is very geared for tournament play as it stands...

Re: Fantasy Flight XWing
Tom, what model Plano box did you get for your XWing minis? And since I forget what it looked like, how many of the larger ships could it realistically hold? I have three larger ships currently. Thanks!

Och! I should have linked this long ago:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HJ ... UTF8&psc=1
Plano Molding 5231 Double Cover Stow N Go Organizer
I like how half of the photos posted to Amazon's product page are of this holding gaming components. Picture 3 shows the lower storage that can hold two large ships, Bob (the one with the maneuver dials has an insert that can be removed to make it the size of it's neighbor). With 28 remaining spaces designated for a single, smaller ship, you could certainly cut away the center border, sac-ing 6 spaces - to make another large bay or two.

Re: Fantasy Flight XWing
Excellent, that's the container I was looking at, I just wasn't sure how many larger ships I could fit. There's also another container in blue which is two of the 5231's back to back.

Re: Fantasy Flight XWing
I wish there were more pictures of the blue one. If it's actually two of the 5231's connected, I would get that one instead. Once more larger ships are released, I can easily see getting another case to hold them all. Aww hell, who am I kidding. I just love component cases!

Re: Fantasy Flight XWing
Here's what I found about the 3952.
http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/968832/ ... only-thing
It really is two of the 5231s back to back with a pull out handle. The link above shows X-Wing storage with lots of pictures. So you can do one side for Empire, one side for Rebels.

Target's toy clearance started yesterday. Xwing miniature starter sets are going for $11.98! There were three left at the 248 location.
