5e Playtest Characters
Re: 5e Playtest Characters
For my backup characters I'm thinking a warlock who workships Dalt (Suel god of Portals, Doors, Enclosures, Locks, and Keys) and some new iteration of Zilanderan (I don't think I've done any Lawful iterations of him yet, so maybe an avenging paladin?)

Sounds good! I like your dwarven character. I appreciate how difficult it is to get all of the gear you need but have no fear, early on there will be ample opportunity to gear up.

So if I switch characters is that going to screw up my secret background for you Bob?

Re: 5e Playtest Characters
You mean switching before the campaign starts? That shouldn't affect anything. Secret background would apply to whatever character to bring to the start of the campaign.

Ok. I couldn't tell if it tailored to the halfling idea or not. Thanks!

Re: 5e Playtest Characters
While the Monk and Barbarian are very tempting... I'm going to stick with a fighter. Probably the second one with all the maneuvers (i'm going to load up on the warlord type maneuvers, I really liked that class in 4e); possibly an elderich knight now that Ken isn't playing one. There are plenty of options I want to try out as a fighter, and I think they have become even more of a key party member now that they have second wind built in.
I have two concepts:
One is an older dwarf who was a commoner from the west but has since joined the crusade. He'd be fresh off a few years of training to become a soldier.
The second (the one I'm leaning towards) is a young Dragonborn. He was part of a clan who were saved years ago by the western dwarves and pledged to help them reach the East. He would therefore have been raised to assist in the crusade. However, now that they have arrived in the Flaness the clan was released from the pledge. So before his life started he was released from the only thing he was trained to do. He'll be searching for a new place in the world.

Concept #2 is the one I would go with.

I have rogues, but not Halfling rogues. They'll do in a pinch.Hardcorhobbs wrote:Because you have a mini for that?Lars Porsenna wrote:Concept #2 is the one I would go with.

I think I have an unpainted druid, too. I'll check.

I may multiclass into Eldritch Knight later on -- I'm not sure how that would look from a multiclass perspective (but don't let that stop you).Hardcorhobbs wrote:While the Monk and Barbarian are very tempting... Nice! I think there is enough magic in the party to make it an easy decision for a Fighter warlord variant. Especially with Eric playing a rogue. Give him a command for a free backstab? Ok!NukeHavoc wrote:I may multiclass into Eldritch Knight later on -- I'm not sure how that would look from a multiclass perspective (but don't let that stop you).

Re: 5e Playtest Characters
Just out of curiosity, is anyone going to do a ranged specialist character? Looking at the Warlock, wondering if I should build towards Pact of the Blade (so melee focused) or Pact of the Tome (which can be ranged focused, more cantrips, but also gets ritual casting...). If I go Tome, I can spam Eldritch Blast all day with the invocations that buff that ability...

Zack is thinking either wizard or sorcerer.Lars Porsenna wrote:Just out of curiosity, is anyone going to do a ranged specialist character?
For the record, my current design is a human druid - the Circle of the Moon shapeshifter option.
