Ship Stuff

Post by EvilGenius »

In Knights of the Old Republic 2, you play through a ship called the Harbinger, a Hammerhead-class cruiser.

Wookipedia lists the Harbinger with a crew compliment of 'about 300', however, it doesn't have starfighter bays. If we used something that size and modified it with a flight deck we could scale that back as necessary.

Wookipedia also lists the CR70 and CR90 (Corellian Corvettes) with crew compliments of 18-150 and 30-165 respectively, depending on configuration).

So if we want a ship of 30-40 crew, we could do a smaller hammerhead-style ship that comes with a few docking bays.

The other option of course is to design our own ship from the ground up.

Yes, we can design our own but the Ships of the Galaxy supplement is a little spotty on ships larger than freighters but smaller than capital ships. Lemme look around a bit more.

This one has a crew the size you're shooting for: http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/Ships/G ... Light.html

It has the bridge with the elevated walkway above the crew stations down in pits.

We could go with the BC-714 Luxury Transport. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/BC-714_luxury_transport

Crew 17, Passengers 30. Bolt on a hanger bay and we're good to go! :D

There's 6 or so options throughout the various books I've been looking at. None of them was exactly what I was envisioning, so we'll likely need to just customize something. I'll post all the pre-made options and my thoughts tonight.

But as a breakdown I'm looking for something with enough crew space that hold the party, support npcs and at least for the time being mentor npcs. Room for the younglings your missions will revolve around, space to add on a docking port or two, and enough cargo space to make it profitable for a cargo company (250 tons minimum is preferable).

Bob the luxury transport fits the bill, but we'd have to make book stats for it.

Nate that ship is definitely on the short list.

Starships of the Galaxy:
* p. 58 Action VI Transport - would need heavy modification, but is a good launch pad
* p. 70 Citadel-class Cruiser - already has the starfighter attachment mods, but it has less cargo space than most of the other ships in the BT fleet.
* p. 75 The CR70 Corvette - a bit bigger than i imagined for this ship
* p. 90 Gozanti Cruiser - one of the better options. Already saw one in the campaign with Deadstar Salvage. Small cargo bay.
* p. 102 Imperial Customs Corvette - crew is a little big, and we would have to modify it to remove the military tag.
* p. 111 Medium Transport - Another good option, and plenty of space for customization
* p. 125 Republic Cruiser - On the short list. Good all around.

KotOR Campaign Guide:
* p. 183 Foray-Class Blockade Runner - same issue as the Corvette. But plenty of room for modifications. It's a decent option because we could say the jedi secured an older, stripped down model for BT from the republic.

I'm leaning towards either the Republic Cruiser or the Foray-Class Blockade Runner at the moment.

I'm thinking of taking the blockade runner stats, back-building it so I can make it a little smaller, and making it the generation of ship that was replaced by the blockade runner. I also want to break out the starships we bought at origins years ago and see if we already have a model for this ship (I'm sure we do!)

We can then adapt one of the ships on the page Nate found and steal its layout. :)

So what would we suggest other than these features:
Cargo space
Jedi training area
Crew cabins
Outside docking bays
Perhaps a small shuttle bay.

You could take this ship: http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/Ships/G ... olker.html

and change the bottom deckplan to be cargo space and tech stuff instead of VIP lounges, dining, or conference rooms.

Nice ship! It's a little more than I envisioned BT spending though. I was trying to keep it around 1 mil. Remember, this is the company with an active turtle ship and one with "proto-star armor".

I've been working around with Heavy Freighter stats. Loosing some cargo space to add in emplacement points which also increases needed crew which will bring us into the crew range i was looking for. It's also big enough to add in some small hanger space.

Lol, the turtle ship and star forged armor are CLASSICS!! :)

And that was before the Mando Wars got into full swing, wasn't it? I'm sure BT could have come into some nice salvage during the wars. ;)
