There has been talk of trying to destroy the following:
The cursed Dagger of Venom, which you found out is called the Touch of Incabulous. It's bearer has disadvantage on poison saves and has a vulnerability to necrotic damage. - we should probably try to get destroyed in town somehow -- perhaps a few of our hechfolk could make some inquiries

Bannock will gather the above short list of items and dispatch Bind and the other Henchmen to try and sell them in the market. Advising them to ask around to find a good shop, merchant, etc that might trade in such wares. He advises them to travel together and be alert and careful.

Bannock will, on the sly, hopefully not attracting Haupt's notice, try to get a message to one of the tiefling servnats about getting a message and/or the crafting supplies to the teiflings to aid in their endeavours. They said not to contact, but he wants to see if they will reply/accept assitance still.

Bannock will ask Haupt himself about means to destroy evil artifacts like the Dagger - if he knows of any in town, if he has come across such due to people showing up at his shop with such, etc.

All of these will be separate vignettes, with efforts made so as not to have people overhear.

Once back at Haupt's Bannock will explain to Haupt that Shining Justice seem to be evil, and attacked us when we went to see that they were safe, as something seemed to be attacking their party. Perhaps they are responsible for all the recent deaths.

Also, in private, Bannock will suggest to the party that we come up with a name for the group to help to begin controlling our reputation in town. Bannock suggests "Friends of Farweald".

He will also inquire with the staff at Haupt's if there is a printer or scribe in town who could do pamphlets or leaflets or the like.

Additionally, Bannock will ask Haupt about a scribe and/or printer or small portable press. He will ask Bind and Co. to see if they could find one in town, maybe.

Bannock wants to start a leaflet campaign extoling the virtues of the Friends of Farweald. Also, discrediting Shining Justice, pointing towards their involvement in all the murders.

Bob, do we find anything of interest while looting the house?

Ooooohhh yes. Yes, this will be a big post. I'll get to it tonight-ish. :)

Bob, How does Haupt react to our suggestion that Shining Justice could be behind the attacks and killing of Frehuel and others? Does he seem to agree it points towards inter-party conflict they are unleashing on the unsuspecting town? After all, they had two bards - would seem natural for competition maybe...

Quarion, do you share with Haupt your altercation with the tiger-man in the police station? Odd location for such a beast? Perhaps a connection to the constable?

Quarion, Jareth, Brigga, do we have a good magical way to question Dapple when we rouse him? Zone of Truth? Compulsion? Etc.? What do we want/need to ask him?

Heh. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. You won't be making it directly back to the Grandwood ....

Lol! It’s ok, I took it as talk amongst yourselves as to your plans. You can ask Haupt all manner of things, once you get there.... :)

Searching the house will reveal the following:

Erbard's room:
This is a smallish bedchamber with a surprisingly comfortable single bed, a wardrobe with a few changes of clothes, and armorer's dummy and a closed and locked footlocker.

Elaidha's room:
This room has been draped with deep red, yellow and orange cloths. The bed is comfortable, with many pillows. There is an unremarkable wardrobe with a good sized, closed chest at the bottom, and a table and two chairs. On the table are the various components of a healer's kit, spread out and partially deconstructed.

Pembrooke's room:
This is a largish sized room with no window. There is an empty wardrobe, a small bookshelf with many books on it and a comfortable reading chair next to it, a magical chest that matches the two in your possession, and on the floor is a large ritual circle of some sort, adorned with candles and strange symbols. In the middle of the circle there is a dull iron knife.

Frahuel's room:
This room is lavishly appointed, with a very large, comfortable bed, a stately wardrobe filled with fine clothes, a very comfortable plush chair next to a window that looks out over a lovely tree, and a closed and locked footlocker. On the bed is a good sized leather journal, well taken care of.

Owan's 'room':
There is a pack and a few spare weapons next to a straw pallet near the hearth. There are also several mostly empty bottles that stink of wine and spirits and a few smaller bottles that are unopened.

Dapple's room:
This room has the largest bed of all, a huge, four poster bed with rich-looking drapes enclosing the bed. There is a writing desk with a hard but comfortable wooden chair. There are no fewer than four cushions on the seat of the chair. There is also a medium sized footlocker on one side of the bed.

This cursory search takes about 5 minutes.

Brigga will suggest that Onarra investigate the chest. Might be something interesting in there.

Brigga flips through her note book, casting her mind back to where she might have seen such a ritual circle before (and/or the strange symbols on it). Failing a direct memory of seeing such a thing, she'll try to suppose what the circle is used for (obviously a ritual ... but what kind? And what creature might be bound here?

In examining Pmbrooke’s room, Brigga recognizes the occult circle as the type required to summon fiends. It’s obviously been used but there is nothing in the circle now.

A cursory search of the books on Pembrooke’s bookshelf shows that many of the books are about summoning fiends and about making pacts with such creatures. There are also books about logic, laws and rhetoric in addition to several tomes on magical theory.

Bannock will suggest that the magic-users in the party (Brigga, Jareth, Quarion) use any detect magic abilities they might have, both in a cursory recon of the house, and also with attention to the various locked chests we have found. Looking for items, traps, etc.

Bannock will suggest paying particular attention to:
Erbard's footlocker
Elaidha's chest and healer's kit
Pembroke's 'master's' chest and the dull iron knife
Frahuel's footlocker and journal
Owan's small bottles
Dapple's footlocker
anything else that scans as magical

Bannock will also suggest that if it looks safe, we may want to make sure they aren't trapped to move, and then take them back to another location to investigate deeper.

Also, the legionnaires last for an hour, so they are still around guarding doors, and could be used for carrying stuff depending upon how long investigations take.

If Brigga can coax Onarra out of her vigil for Shining Justice members' return, then she will examine the chest for traps/unlock in the order that they are cleared of magical in-your-face-explosions. I'll roll for these as you see fit, if we need to take our time on these, Bob, narratively or otherwise.

Onarra will also strongly suggest that we have at least three guards over Dapple, wards to prevent magical intrusion/extraction, blindfold gag, and hands tightly bound to prevent him from trying ANYTHING. "What if this little murderer can summon a bone blade from nowhere. Or speak a word and vanish, or...I don't know, break wind and kill everyone in the room?! I'll personally jam a cork in his--" After she calms down a bit, she will say, "Let's not be caught flatfooted again, like when we thought we had that other servant of the Master in hand."

Heh, good suggestions, Tom. But I have to update the Crier with what we did last night. ;)

Rolls were rolled, damage was taken, decisions were made ....

In last Sunday night's session, Jareth and Quarion directed Onarra and Brigga in examining what they had found in the house Shining Justice had been renting.
After determining that none of the chests were trapped to prevent moving them, the PCs decided to simply take all of the chests and items of interest back to Councilman Haupt's Grandwood Estate. Bannock got his Legionnaires to carry the chests, and a tied up Dapple, back across town with no further mishaps.

Once back at the Grandwood, the PCs retreated to a large sitting room. There they found a storage chest, emptied it of its contents and stored the tied up, unconscious halfling in it, while they continued to examine the other objects.

Onarra found several traps and successfully disabled them to open the chests. However, she did not manage to find the poison needle dart trap on Dapple's chest, which led to a Onarra being dosed with wyvern poison. Nor did Onarra find the strange fiery dust packet trap on Erbard's chest, which covered her in some sort of sparkling red powder which promptly caught on fire. Onarra was able to put out her fire but a sizable hole was burned into the rug in the sitting room. Finally, Bannock simply sighed and purposefully triggered the glyph of warning on Elaidha's footlocker, stoically enduring the explosion of flame that engulfed him.

Once the traps and locks were dealt with, Bannock and Quarion set about examining the contents of the various chests. They recovered several journals, a lot of clothes, a few potions and what looked like a poisoner's kit (to be detailed soon).

I’ll detail the items recovered from Dapple later. :)

Quarion paged through Frahuel’s journal and reported that it wa filled with musical musings and was of little interest.

The PCs looked at Elaidha’s journal but they couldn’t decipher the language used. They did see a few illustrations that seemed to have religious significance but they didn’t recognize any of the icons. There was an evil looking humanoid face surrounded by flames and in another section, an idle pen drawing of a dagger dripping some kind of liquid. The PCs surmised that the liquid indicated poison, however, Councilman Haupt pointed out that the liquid could very well have referenced something else, like water, and suggested that maybe Eliadha simply liked to wash and clean her blades.

The final journal belonged to Dapple, and Bannock immediately recognized the language used as Infernal. Reading through Dapple’s Journal proved unsettling, as the diminutive bard mused about the art of assassination, detailing the various people who had given him offense and the ways in which he assassinated them as payback.

The PCs debated about what to do next and decided to rest for the remainder of the evening, then send a messenger to the Constable.
