Dark City: What Happens Next -- Harvester 25, 591
Since we'll have two weeks of real-world downtime before our next game, I'd like to handle some of the follow-up from Friday's game online, so let me know what your characters would like to do next.
I'll post what responses I can, and hopefully we'll be in a good place to continue by next Friday's game.

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Forgive me. I'll try and be a tad more quiet as I desperately struggle to break free -- and save all creation!" -- Doctor Strange
It takes me a while to do Dark City stuff, and I've used up most of what I had written. So ... in order to have something for next Friday, I need folks to let me know what their plans are.
1) Are Wind and Vargas (it was Vargas right?) going to keep their appointment with the Earth Dragon priest?
2) Is there any follow-up that you want to do (either as your characters, or as your characters dumping the problem on someone else) with the contaminated cistern?
3) And what of the Messengers Guild? What actions do you wish to take with it?
Given Dark City's freeform nature, you don't actually need to follow up on any or all of these things if you don't want ... but I do need to know what you'd like to do instead. Keep in mind that Brewfest is coming up, and the week long festival of the harvest should give you plenty to do.

Corash is going to use some of the downtime from the previous adventure to learn some new spells...
...And pop on down to the library to research what this squidbaby has to do with the Far Realm. He'll also want to cross-reference Far Realm with Earth Dragon, to see if there is any connection there. Once he has some info, he'll write a detailed report and deliver it to his benefactor, Maugnir...

I was thinking. We could use the riots to our advantage to get into the temple. Now, this would have to be done extra cautiously as Kerth would not want anyone to get hurt. But if perhaps we were able to get the rioters to head to the Mages guild. While there we could sneak into the temple and poke around a bit. We just need a plan to keep the rioters from ending up on the mages doorstep because that could turnout quite bad (for the rioters).
Well, Gruffudd would say that trying to get the rioters to head towards the mages so we could explore their temple is a BAD idea. way too much could go wrong, icluding getting on the mages' bad side when the scry to learn that we sent the rioters towrads them. And, would most probably lead to more innocent injury and death than necessary. Let Vargas and Wind continue their infiltration, that seems most prudent for that investigation.
Gruffudd will want to make sure the cistern is dealt with. He would want to contact someone with the means to clean it up, so most likely one of the powerful churches or the mages' guild. He'll ask the party's favored soul to speak to his church, and the mages to talk to their contacts in the arcane order to see if they can repair things. If not, the city guard should be notified to cordon off the area at the very least.
And, Gruffudd will continue his stay at the Fire-Eaters, and continue his sparring with the Ralleymen, up until his scheduled Brewfest bout in the tourney as a sponsoree of the Sword Academy (name again?) where he is to be an instructor. (Also, need XP to see if he levels so that he'll be better prepared for this contest.)

Prug
Prug will continue his efforts with the Temple of Zodal, reaching out to the people of the Mudsitters District, making sure they know that the Temple stands ready to assist them with whatever they need.
Prug is also going to talk to the Brothers about a, ahem, criminal outreach program. He's going on the philosophy that there are quite a few people engaged in criminal behavior simply because they don't have anywhere else to turn, no one else to help them provide for themselves.
To that end, Prug wants to use his street level informer contact to put out a discreet word to the underworld element. If anyone truely wants out, they can contact Prug and Zodal will help them get out and start anew.

Yes, that is true. However we have a member so perhaps we could bring the mages guild into it. They could use their magics to draw away the crowd while we infiltrate the Temple. I would think its inevitable that the rioters will head that way. It would be better if it happened while it was expected. That way the mages can simply use magics to hold the rioters at bay, and minimise the destruction.
Vargas would plan on keeping the appointment with the Earth Dragon priest, and would also be highly concerned with gathering a sample from the cistern/fountain and pass on what he has learned to the Guild of Wizardry.
Salsar would continue with drumming up business for the Persuaders.

I'm guessing you meant Vargas here?setanta14 wrote:Salsar would plan on keeping the appointment with the Earth Dragon priest, and would also be highly concerned with gathering a sample from the cistern/fountain and pass on what he has learned to the Guild of Wizardry.

By getting the contract from the Guild of Wizardry to deal with the Messengers (through Vargas, who owes him a favor for saving his ass in the latest street fight)

After the discussion friday (where I learned I was mis-interperating the events that occured) I will ask to strike my previous suggestions from the record INSTEAD what Kerth will do is head over to the temple and grab some priests of Pelor to deal with the tainted well. Once that is complete he will head over to the Sheld maden's to inform them of what we have found.
Vargas and Wind at the Temple of the Earth Dragon
Vargas and Wind at the Temple of the Earth Dragon
Vargas and Wind keep their appointment with Brother Dursen Gallohavo. By the time they arrive at the Temple late that morning, the crowd has largely dispersed, though a few still mingle about. As you walk to the Temple, you over here a few talking angrily and loudly about what the Temple should do about the wizards and their Pelorite lapdogs cowardly theft of the baby.
You are escorted into the Brother's Office on the first floor, where he asks you to sit down. He introduces himself and asks how he can help you achieve a greater understanding of the Earth Dragon.
What do you ask him?

Kerth, Gruffud and the Temple of Pelor
Kerth summons aid from the Church of Pelor, which dispatches Kerth, a noted healer named Alowyn and a contingent of guards under the command of Sir Peldonius Trueshield himself. They retrieve several samples, all under the uneasy, distrustful eyes of the Mudsitters living there. Just as they are finished a contingent of armed Earth Dragons arrives, clearly bristling for a fight, and demanding that "the child-stealing, wizard-minions leave immediately/"
They nearly start a fight when the Maidens of the Shield arrive, led by Koriona Sethowen. Suddenly outnumbered, the Earth Dragons reluctantly backdown.
Back at the temple, Alowyn explains it will take a day or two for her to fully analyze the samples. Mindful of Vargas' request for a sample, they give him three vials taken from the cistern for him to do with as he wishes (that will happen after the meeting at the Temple of the Earth Dragon).
Koriona stays at the Temple to speak with Kerth and get caught up on the happenings of the previous day.
